Proof Support

Support guide version:

Protect your work: do not email proof text, private links, images, exports, or other sensitive proof content.

Start here

Proof is an offline-capable, local-first app. There is no Proof account to sign in to. Your current journey and saved proof should remain usable on this device while the network or iCloud is unavailable.

For a temporary issue, keep the app installed, check that the device has free storage, close and reopen Proof, and restart the device. Export any reference copy you need before reinstalling or making a destructive change.

iCloud availability

In Proof Settings, “iCloud available” means your Apple Account is available to CloudKit. It does not prove that every change has synced. Confirm the intended Apple Account, iCloud access for Proof, and network access, then reopen the app later.

Reminders

Local reminders are optional. Choose exactly three action days, enable the reminder, and select a time. If permission is off, use Proof’s link to system notification settings. Pausing or completing a journey updates its reminders.

Exports and sharing

Markdown exports proof text, saved links, dates, journey metadata, and reflections without image bytes. JSON includes image bytes and can be large. Proof cannot currently import or restore either format. Completed-journey sharing is user initiated and shares Markdown only.

Deletion

Deleting an individual proof may reopen its step and reduce progress. Delete All removes journeys, proof, images, and reflections from the local store and cannot be undone inside Proof. Private CloudKit deletion propagation is system-managed and eventual.

Common issues

A saved link shows a warning

Proof sends a small HEAD request to the saved link’s host. A warning can mean the host is offline, blocks HEAD requests, requires authentication, or the network is unavailable. The link remains saved.

An image will not attach

Choose the image again with PhotosPicker and wait for loading to finish before saving. Your other draft fields remain available if image loading fails.

App Store purchases and refunds

Apple handles App Store purchases and refunds. Eligibility varies. Sign in at Apple’s Report a Problem to submit a request, or read Apple’s refund guide.

Contact

Email luofubin@live.com with your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, Proof version, and the exact screen and message. Describe the behavior without attaching private work.
